In May, a group of AGS staff, headed up by David McMillan, AGS Pest Control General Manager, decided to walk the Cumbrian Challenge alongside staff from our client ABM.
This event is Walking with the Wounded’s annual fundraising challenge, created to support those who served, by assisting veterans with employment, mental health and support care co-ordination programmes.
Participants choose from 4 different routes catering for different abilities and, not for the faint-hearted, our team chose “The Tougher”, covering 27 km with a 1,411 ascent. The route was walked over the course of one day, camping overnight before and after in the beautiful village of Grasmere. As well as raising money for this very worthwhile charity, the route also included some fabulous scenery, and the team had time to bond away from the usual working environment.
All the members of our group made it to the end of this challenging walk, and had these comments to make:-
Ed – I enjoy a good hike, and loved this one. Really good spirit from the team to push all the way. Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Next year we’ll do K2!
Will – It’s been a long time since I last went for a challenging hike! I did reflect on how having easy access to the lakes and hills to ground ourselves is something a lot of us take for granted. I’d highly recommend the challenge to those who need to get out of the rat race, are seeking a challenge or want to contribute towards a good cause!
Well done everyone
